Time Trials and Team Challenge

Time Trials
Saffron Seals conduct time trials at least once a year to enable swimmers to gain Personal Best times (PBs) in each of their strokes and to swim at a variety of distances. Swimming squads are selected mainly on PBs, therefore it gives an opportunity for swimmers to be considered for selection.   These will also assist coaches when consideration is given to  movement between the squads.

Team Challenge
The Team Challenge was first introduced in 2012.  All swimmers are eligible to join in.   Once an interest has been registered the coaching team divide all the swimmers into 4 “fair teams” run by our captains and vice captains – each team being identified by a different colour hat, which are supplied. There are individual and relay events so everyone has the opportunity to swim more than once. The races will be split by age categories (8 years, 9 years, 10 years, 11 years, 12 years, 13 years, 14 and over).  The Vivienne Meyrick Trophy is presented to the winning team at the end of the evening and all swimmers receive a medal.

It is recommended that all swimmers take part as it will be an insight for those swimmers who are yet to compete and an opportunity for those who have already competed to try and beat their PB times.
